This is Vålerenga’s new head coach:

The Swede was presented as the new coach at a press conference on Monday afternoon.

– Incredibly cool to be here. It has been a long process. We have talked a lot, says Andersson.

– I’m here to win the championship. That’s what matters.

Andersson has signed a three-year contract with the Oslo club.

TV 2 was able to reveal in early May that Swedish Fredrik Andersson had been contacted by Vålerenga Ice Hockey with a request if he could consider becoming their head coach.

– It means everything to get a new coach in place. A process that has lasted for two and a half months. Very happy that it fell into place, says Anders Myhrvold to TV 2. He is a board member of the club.

– There have been many offers. I think it triggers him very much that Vålerenga has not won in thirteen years, he says.

Therefore, it has taken time

The Swede himself explains why the decision has been delayed.

– There have been others who have been interested and then there have been my own feelings.

The 54-year-old was fired in March in Timrå. There he was head coach for almost five years.

In addition, there were Swiss clubs that were in Swedish, but as he himself says:

– Vålerenga was my main goal all the time.

In Vålerenga, he brings with him Mats Trygg as assistant coach.

– I have a really good feeling. It will be cool to get started, says Andersson.

– Been a bit turbulent

There has been chaos in the club for a while, after that among others Jan Tore Kjær was accused of attempted coup.

The newly hired Swede has experienced the turbulence in the club.

– Of course I consider such things. It’s been a bit turbulent, but it’s on the right track. We must work together in a good way in the future.

– I have, together with the others, focused on what I can do something with: To put in place an important piece. We try to make this go in the same direction, says Myhrvold.
