Dynamo Dresden made up for a 2-0 break deficit at Fortuna Düsseldorf and secured an important point in the relegation battle of the 2nd Bundesliga. The Fortuna missed the premature relegation.
Shinta Appelkamp (26 minutes) and Jordy de Wijs (31) put Fortuna Düsseldorf in the lead on the 31st match day of the 2nd Bundesliga. After the break, Paul Will (71st) and Ransford Königsdörffer (80th) equalized for the guests of Dynamo Dresden.
Fortuna Düsseldorf remains unbeaten in their tenth game under coach Daniel Thioune (four wins, six draws). Dresden’s winless streak also continues. Dynamo have been waiting for a three-pointer for 14 games (six defeats, eight draws).
Clear half-time lead for Fortuna
The first half clearly belonged to the hosts, who put a lot of pressure on the Dresden goal from the start. In the middle of the first half, the 25,000 spectators in the Düsseldorf stadium saw Fortuna take the lead after a great attack down the right flank.
André Hoffmann captured the ball in his own penalty area, then it went through Emmanuel Iyoha and Khaled Narey, who passed the ball superbly to the free Appelkamp. The German-Japanese made it 1-0 with his third goal of the season. For Narey it was the 15th assist this season.
Düsseldorf’s second goal just five minutes later, and this time it was a premiere. Jordy de Wijs increased winter access with his first goal for Fortuna. After a corner, the central defender switched the fastest and hammered the ball into the net from close range.
Hennings misses the 3-0
The tide turned in the second half. Rouwen Hennings still had the chance to make it 3-0 (57′). But the Fortuna striker missed a good chance.
Instead, the Saxons grew stronger and were rewarded. After a corner, Paul Will scored the goal with a header. A few minutes later, Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer scored with a dry low shot to equalize for the black and yellow.
Düsseldorf will play at 1. FC Heidenheim next match day (Friday, 6.30 p.m.). Dresden welcomes Jahn Regensburg (Saturday, 1.30 p.m.).
