A historic performance at the New York Grand Prix: American Devon Allen sets the third fastest time in history over 110 meters hurdles


Devon Allen signed a capital performance Sunday at the New York Grand Prix, athletics meeting of the World Athletics Continental Tour Gold.

Lhe 27-year-old American sprinter won the 110-meter hurdles in 12.84, the third performance in history over the distance.

Allen, 4th at the Tokyo Olympics last summer, won ahead of his compatriot Grant Holloway (13.06), reigning world champion and Olympic vice-champion. Daniel Roberts, in 13.17, completed an all-American podium.

Holloway has the 2nd best performance in history (12.81), achieved in June 2021, while the world record has been held by American Aries Merritt (12.80) since the 2012 edition of the Memorial Van Damme.

American Aleia Hobbs won the 100 meters with the 3rd time of the season (10.83) while for men, American Christian Coleman (9.92) and Jamaican Ackeem Blake (9.95) went under 10 seconds.
