Ian Maatsen must become the new addition to Feyenoord. According to 1908.nl the Rotterdammers are currently concrete in the market for the 20-year-old left back.
Feyenoord wants to rent the current Chelsea FC player with an option to buy. The stadium club is seriously considering a departure from Tyrell Malacia and previously saw Ramon Hendriks leave for FC Utrecht. A reinforcement in the back is therefore more than welcome.
Maats was active in Feyenoord’s youth academy in 2013, but had to leave after one year. Sparta Rotterdam gave him another chance and after two years the left back made the switch to PSV. Not much later, Maatsen opted for a switch to Chelsea. In England he has a contract until mid-2024.
Maatsen played on a rental basis for Coventry City last season. The left back played no fewer than 41 matches in The Championship. Maatsen was accurate three times in the competition and managed to deliver one assist. For the new season, Maatsen does not have to count on playing minutes with the first team, making a rental a serious option.
