América Femenil could finalize the arrival of coach Ángel Villacampa for the next Apertura 2022 tournament. The Eagles were left without a technical director by cutting their relationship with Craig Harrington after having been eliminated in the Clausura 2022 Playoffs. Less than a month before the next contest begins, they seek to cover that loss.

Ángel Villacampa is one of the most successful coaches in the Spanish Women’s League. In his career as technical director he has been in charge of important clubs such as Atlético de Madrid, Atlético Club and more recently with Levante.
In fact, Ángel chose to step aside with Levante a couple of days ago. The strategist had a contract with the club for one more year, until the summer of 2023, but he decided to end that stage for personal reasons. After his departure, the Spanish strategist has been linked to Liga MX, specifically with América Femenil.
He lived his best stage at the head of Atlético de Madrid from 2016 to 2018. He lifted the Iberdrola League on two consecutive occasions with the ‘Colchoneras’ and also won the Queen’s Cup on one occasion (two runners-up).
He was subsequently China’s U-16 coach in 2019. He was short-lived in his role and then joined Atletic Club. Later, in the summer of 2021, his arrival at the Levante, club with which he finished sixth overall and even played the preliminary phase of the women’s UEFA Champions League.
