Suspected of smuggling cigarettes and alcohol, and drug trafficking in Montauban, four individuals including a mother were tried this Friday in immediate appearance. 2.5 kg of cannabis grass and resin, nearly 90 g of cocaine, 188 sachets of ecstasy but also hundreds of cartons of cigarettes and more than 200 liters of alcohol, and 17,000 euros in cash had been seized during the search.
It was “a Spanish inn”, a “family drug trade”, “good Samaritans”. The qualifiers are not lacking this Friday, February 4 in court to qualify the nature of the business of smuggling cigarettes and alcohol, and sales of narcotics (cannabis, cocaine and ecstasy) set up via Snapchat by four individuals including a mother family of 44 years, rue des Hirondelles in Montauban.
Since their arrest on January 10 by the police of the anti-narcotics unit of the Montauban police station, the quartet who had escaped being remanded in custody pending their judgment in immediate appearance last month (our edition of January 14), was placed under judicial control.
At the heart of this traffic, the matron, Karine, tenant of this house where her two children of 8 and 14 years old live, of whom she has “sole custody”, she repeats, thinking thus to avoid incarceration. Unemployed, the quadra gives herself the image with her companion, Nicolae, a Romanian national fifteen years her junior, of being a “good Samaritan”. “She took me in when I was on the street,” says Mihaïta, another 23-year-old Romanian national and colleague of Nicolae. Same story for Lorenzo, a young adult of 19, who slept under the bridges.

“In total, with your children, there are up to ten people staying with you,” says President Anne Ogé, specifying however that the benefactress was not so devoid of interest, asking for “rent” or a “contribution to the cost” of the household. “I paid him 400 to 600 € per month”, admits Mihaïta just like Lorenzo. To this sum, to which are added social benefits (€1,200), Karine also participates within the “sagrada familia” in the smuggling of cigarettes and alcohol, far exceeding personal consumption.
With her companion and her “tenants”, she makes many round trips to the Principality of Andorra. “Between July and December, some went 16 to 18 times to Pas-de-la-Case,” confirms the president. Investigators seized 224 liters of alcohol and 200 cartons of cigarettes.
It is above all the comings and goings, day and night, of drug users in this Spanish inn on rue des Hirondelles that puts the “antistup” team on their trail. “How did the idea come about to set up a Snapchat account entitled “Montauban sale” with the details of the products for sale?, asks AnneOgé to Lorenzo, the youngest of the band.
– It’s quite common, I’ve already bought on Snapchat, assures Lorenzo saying then consume 8 grams of cocaine per month and 8 grams of cannabis per day.
– For what purpose did you set it up?
– There were people knocking on the door all the time at any time, it was to organize the sale, naively loose Lorenzo confirming that this account has exploded sales.
For his part, Nicolae, who is considered to be the organizer of the traffic, minimizes it. “It was at the start of the friends that I helped out, guarantees the thirty-year-old.
– Why at your place?
– It was easier for me to get product.
– Indeed, with 88 gr of cocaine, 2.5 kg of grass and cannabis resin, 188 tablets of ecstasy, we are more on insignificant quantities!, replies the president.
– I work, defends Nicolae team leader in a paint company in Bressols.
– It’s called a blanket!, the judge cuts him off.
After the pleadings of Mes Nabet-Claverie and Leibovitch, in defense, the court exceeds for the latter the requisitions by condemning him to 18 months of prison including 10 months of probationary reprieve, that is to say 8 months firm. Karine, his companion whose criminal record is studded with 5 mentions for scams, and the two accomplices are sentenced to 15 months including 10 months of probation, the firm part of these 5 months will be carried out under an electronic bracelet. The seals were also confiscated from them, including more than 17,000 euros in cash.
