Hundreds of Pangandaran Fishing Boats Idle Can’t Go to Sea

Pangandaran News (harapanrakyat.com), – Hundreds of boats belonging to para Pangandaran fisherman, West Java, now unemployed and unable to go to sea. They would rather rest than take the risk of going to sea.

Dian, a fisherman, revealed that the reason for choosing to rest was due to two factors. First, because of the unfriendly weather and migration of marine animals.

“This condition has been going on for three months. So that not a few unemployed fishermen can’t go to sea,” he told HR Online, Saturday (11/6/2022).

So, he continued, if fishermen force to go to sea, the results will be nil. In fact, they even lose, because operational costs such as fuel are not covered by fishing products.

But even so, he admitted that there are still some fishermen who go to sea like him. However, even at sea, it is only 5 kilometers from the beach.

“Usually if the weather conditions are normal, then you can go fishing as far as 7 to 15 kilometers from the beach,” he said.

Rasmin, one of the other fishermen said the same thing. According to him, because the weather was not friendly, many idle boats could not go to sea.

“Since the weather on the south coast is less friendly, I prefer to rest and improve boats and nets,” he said.

However, sometimes he even forced himself to go to sea. Even though it’s only under 5 kilometers. “Because if it is more, then the risk is quite high,” he said.

Meanwhile, due to weather factors and the large number of unemployed fishermen who cannot go to sea, this has greatly affected TPI Minasari Pangandaran.

Usually when it’s normal auction results reach 2-4 quintals per night. However, since the condition was famine, the auction at Minasari TPI was only under a hundred kilos. (Entang/R5/HR-Online/Editor-Adi)
