The sequel to Ghostbusters: Legacy will return to New York, in the barracks

After its journey in the Midwest, the franchise will return to its roots!

taking advantage of Ghostbusters Day which was held yesterday (yes it exists), director Jason Reitman and Sony Pictures have confirmed Following Ghostbusters Legacy and unveiled lots of details about this fourth installment in the cult saga.

Described as “the next chapter in the Spengler family story“, it will again be directed by Jason Reitman from a script he co-wrote with Kenan. It is still unknown if all the actors of The Legacy and/or elders Ghostbusters will be back in the cast (even if we suspect that Phoebe Spengler played by McKenna Grace will necessarily be there). On the other hand, we know the decor: finished the campaign of the American Midwest! Ghostbusters will return home to his hometown of New York, which was such an important setting in the first two installments.

“Ecto-1 was last seen as the Ghostbusters’ car was driving home in Manhattan. This is where our story begins. Code name FIREHOUSE”.

The famous barracks should therefore once again hold an essential place.

A new Ghostbusters animated series on Netflix

As a bonus, Sony and Reitman have also announced the development of an upcoming adaptation of Ghostbusters into an animated film, which will be produced by Sony Pictures Animation. A visibly totally different project from the new animated series recently announced for Netflix.

“It was a project my father was passionate about and it’s easy to see why”confides the director, son of Ivan Reitman, who had signed the first two Ghostbusters. “The world of the unknown can only be properly explored through the boundless scope of animation.”

This animated film – still untitled – will be directed by Chris Prynoski (Beavis et Butt-Head Do the Universe) Jennifer Kluska (Hotel Transylvania: Transformania) from a screenplay written by Brenda Hsueh. No date yet.
