Studio “RJ76 Films” broadcast “Your Car TV“The role of the expert this time is a man who is well acquainted with both the management of cars on racetracks and the safety principles that need to be adapted to public transport. Jānis Vanks He has been running the Safe Driving School for seven years, but he has actively participated in the highway race for 13 years (he ran the full season until 2018), winning two Latvian and three Baltic champion titles. He is currently in charge of training and coaching young motorsport enthusiasts for the ABC Race, which he runs with his Team Rexona Racing, offering affordable high-level racing.
Looking at petrol prices at petrol stations, more and more potential car buyers are starting to look in the direction of e-cars. As an additional incentive, there is also state support for the purchase of such vehicles, which is available to every citizen living in Latvia. Thanks to this, another 4,500 euros can be paid from the car price. For example, a well-equipped Mini Cooper SE can be obtained for less than 37 thousand euros.
The Mini Cooper SE is suitable for life in the bustle of the city – with its 32.6 kWh battery it is enough to cover distances of up to 230 km. With fast charging options, this car’s battery can be recharged up to 80% in 35 minutes. Of course, it can also be charged at home from the most common 220V socket, only it will take much longer.
It is clear that one of the criteria that is quite important when choosing a new car is its running costs. And despite the high cost of electric cars, they have no competitors in this regard. Even with fast charging services, the cost per 100 km will not be much higher than 5-6 euros per 100 km. On the other hand, when it comes to maintenance, they are rarer and much cheaper for such cars, as they do not need to change the engine oil, filters or plugs and other consumables. By the way, even the brake pads of an electric car wear less, because mostly the car brakes with an electric motor, moreover, during this process the motor is transformed into a generator, which recovers the energy that is collected in the battery and used for the next trip.
For 60 years, the Mini has delighted with cars that are a pleasure to look back on. And while this particular car has almost nothing in common with the original Mini, its history, image over the years and charisma won’t leave any of us indifferent.
