The child of a murdered Texas couple has been found more than 41 years after the violent death of her parents, reports the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). Police officers in three states joined the search. Texas investigators eventually found the child, who is now a 42-year-old woman, in the state of Oklahoma.
Holly Clouse, aka “Baby Holly,” was last seen by her family in the late 1980s. Her parents, Tina and Harold Clouse, were found murdered on January 12, 1981 in the countryside near the Texas city of Houston.
Only decades later, with the help of DNA technology, could it be established with certainty that the bodies found were indeed Harold and Tina’s. Harold had been beaten to death, Tina strangled. Their child was not found among their remains.
The cause of the murder of Holly’s parents and her own disappearance is still a mystery. Holly was raised by a family that adopted her. More information has not yet been released about Holly’s life since her disappearance. It is also not clear who took her after the murders and how she ended up in the adoptive family. Holly’s current identity has also not been revealed.
The Texan newspaper did know Houston Chronicle to report that Holly first learned who she is from investigators on Tuesday. It is not known how the researchers found Holly, and whether she may have participated in the investigation herself.
According to the NCMEC, Holly hopes to meet her biological family in person soon. The investigation into the murder of Holly’s birth parents remains open.
