NEW YORK – Election officials issued the preliminary results in the midterm elections in New Jersey, one of several US states that held primaries on Tuesday.
Although New Jersey voters did not cast ballots for the state elections, they did vote for Democratic and Republican candidates running for several open seats in the US House of Representatives.
The New Jersey primary will help set the stage for the November election as Republicans seek to regain control of both the House and Senate.
There were 56 candidates who fought for votes in the 12 districts of the state, some without opposition and others fighting in massive contests.
