All municipalities in Eure-et-Loir connected to optical fiber by the end of 2022

“100% of Eure-et-Loir will be fiber by the end of 2022”, announced, this Thursday, June 9, in Chartres, Christophe Le Dorven, president (LR) of the Departmental Council of Eure-et-Loir.

The “boss” of the Department was surrounded by Jacques Lemare, departmental councilor for the canton of Dreux 2 and president of Eure-et-Loir Numérique, Grégory Rabuel, CEO of Altice France and Lionel Recorbet, CEO of XpFibre, to make a point on the fiber network deployed by Eure-et-Loir Numérique.

The Eure-et-Loir Departmental Council and XpFibre signed a public service delegation (DSP) in April 2014, with the aim of installing 97,000 fiber optic sockets in 158 Eurelian municipalities by the end of 2021, i.e. a public investment of €130 million and a private investment of €39 million for XpFibre.

In February 2020, a new agreement was signed between the Department and XpFibre to expand this network, thanks to 58,198 additional sockets in 194 municipalities, without public contribution. XpFibre has thus undertaken to spend an additional €56 million for the development of very high-speed Internet in Eure-et-Loir.

In the field, the technicians of this company are hard at work to reach the milestone of the 150,000th fiber outlet available for sale in Eure-et-Loir, as part of this partnership, by July.

Jacques Lemare explains the Department’s approach:

“We were the very first department in France to opt for a public network. The operators considered at the time that it was not as urgent as we thought. This allows us today to be a perfectly connected territory. »

Other infrastructure operators (such as Orange or Cm’in) participate in the deployment of fiber in Chartres and its agglomeration as well as in Dreux, in the so-called Amii zones (Call for expression of investment intention).

Individuals and businesses now have the choice between four operators

In all municipalities equipped with fiber, individuals or businesses now have the choice between four operators. “After SFR, Orange and Bouygues, an agreement has just been signed with Free for very high speed,” announces Jacques Lemare.
