Cabinet makes a mistake: delivery of drones to Ukraine public

With the very first deliveries to Ukraine, the Netherlands was now very open about which anti-tank weapons and ammunition were sent, but that has changed in recent months. Deliveries are now being kept secret, so as not to inform Russia about which weapons and equipment are going to Kiev.

But things went wrong in the spring memorandum of 20 May. It states that the Netherlands has supplied drones to Ukraine. According to Ollongren, that was included ‘by mistake’.

“It is considered per delivery whether this can be reported publicly. The cabinet has ruled that disclosure is not appropriate for these systems,” says Ollongren in a new letter to parliament.

130 million

So far, the Netherlands has provided over 130 million euros in arms and material support to Ukraine. That money is partly paid through the European Union.
