Apple iOS update. The digital ecosystem is constantly changing. One of the trends in recent years due to its direct impact on users, companies, agencies and platforms is the focus that has been given to the privacy of information obtained through the Internet.
In 2018, in a first effort to establish rules on the use of such information, the so-called RGDP came into force, a privacy legislation that led thousands of companies around the world to adjust their processes for the collection, storage and use of personal data. For marketing purposes, even stricter requirements have been established for the user’s consent in the use of their personal data by third parties.
Now, in 2021, Apple has decided to be more proactive on the issue of privacy and with its iOS 14 operating system update, things will be changing again.

With the latest update of iOS 14.5 and the new framework App Tracking Transparency (ATT) Apple seeks to provide greater transparency in tracking what happens between applications. The ATT will give you a better understanding of how each app uses your information and offer you the ability to choose whether or not you want to be tracked. This means that all apps will now need to request permission to track and share information. You choose if you want to share your location, your photos, your microphone and your camera. Apple claims that iOS 14 gives you more control over the data you share and more insight into how it’s used. More information in: https://www.apple.com/no/ios/ios-14/.
What consequence does this change have?
The result will depend on each one of the applications, but in general terms there will be a greater restriction in the sending of information between applications.
Facebook is one of the platforms that will be most affected by the change, since the update will have an impact on its advertiser platform.
A few weeks ago, Facebook introduced changes to its Aggregated Event Measurement (AEM). The AEM limits, aggregates and delays the data. This means adjustments for everyone who advertises with Facebook when it comes to Facebook campaign setup, targeting, measurement, and reporting.
