Dallara Automobili’s CEO made some heavy statements to ‘Il Sole 24 Ore’. They are in stark contrast to Europe’s decision to stake all its chips on the electric.
Drastically reducing emissions in the mobility sector has become a real urgency. The emergence of electricity in transport is something increasingly clear, even in the eyes of people who are not involved in the sector. But betting everything on the electric transaction is a choice that many do not like, also to various CEOs of various automotive companies. Among these there is Andrea Pontremoli, Dallara’s Chief Executive Officer.
In fact, his statements in open contrast to the European decision to veer sharply exclusively towards electricity are causing a lot of talk. This is the most significant extract of the words of him reported by ‘Il Sole 24 ore’: “Turning everything on the electric is” stupid “and poses a huge energy problem, as well as putting the entire auto industry in China’s hands. Many countries, such as Arabia, are investing heavily to accelerate the development of hydrogen instead because they know that the electric alone can’t do it. In the future, hybrid hydrogen traction systems or alternative fuels such as biofuels will be needed ”.
The statements of Andrea Pontremoli on the electric
For Pontremoli, therefore, other systems should not be left aside to reduce emissions. The development of hydrogen or other hybrid systems in this sense would be – according to what was declared by Pontremoli – systems that should not be left in oblivion.
A mixture of various technologies to lower emissions would, therefore, be the turning point hoped for by Pontremoli and several other CEOs. Something that would seem to go against the trend of what comes out of the latest decisions taken in Europe.
Andrea Pontremoli also made other hypotheses regarding the issue of sustainability. The CEO of the Italian company explained how they are making enormous efforts to reduce emissions also thanks to particular aerodynamic measures. In fact, this aspect also makes it possible to reduce emissions and optimize energy consumption as much as possible.
Even in the past Pontremoli had spoken out against European political decisions in choosing the best technology for the future: “For me it is wrong that it is politics that chooses the technology, it must be the industry, so whoever has the necessary skills, identifies the right solution to reduce emissions”.
Dallara is now present in the F3 championships. In addition, it is the sole supplier of cars for various championships such as Formula E, IndyCar and Super Formula. Between 1988 and 1992 Dallara also took part in the Formula 1 world championship as a constructor for Scuderia Italia.
