Sleman Health Office Recorded One Patient Died Due to DHF

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID,SLEMAN — The Sleman District Health Office, Yogyakarta Special Region noted that until the first semester of 2022, there was one case of a dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) patient who died.

“Total cases DBD So far, in Sleman, there have been 161 cases with one patient dying,” said the Head of the Sleman District Health Office, Cahya Purnama, in Sleman, Thursday (9/6/2022).

According to him, one death due to DHF happened to an 8-year-old child in Kapanewon (Kecamatan) Mlati. “Kapanewon Mlati is an endemic area for dengue fever and this year the number of cases in the area reached 25 cases, then Kapanewon Depok 19 cases and Prambanan 18 cases,” he said.

He said the community is expected to increase vigilance to prevent dengue transmission by maintaining a clean environment that has the potential to become a mosquito breeding ground. “Especially the empty environment that is not inhabited so that it is more closely observed. Because the dengue vector usually appears in the environment where the occupants have left,” he said.

Environments that are prone to becoming mosquito nests include houses that are only occupied a week or once a month. “Then the boarding children who leave the boarding house are expected to empty the bath tub,” he said.

Cahya also asked the public to monitor and eradicate mosquito nests (PSN) through 3 M, namely draining places that are breeding grounds for mosquitoes and closing water reservoirs tightly. Then reuse or carefully store used waste such as bottles that have the potential to become puddles and mosquito breeding sites, and activate the larva monitoring interpreter (Jumantik).

“The community must also implement a clean and healthy lifestyle (PHBS),” he said.

He said, although 161 cases of DHF have been found in Sleman, this number is very far from the previous year which could reach 400-500 cases, because Sleman Regency implemented the Wolly Comfortable program, namely controlling dengue cases by spreading Wolbachia mosquitoes. “The Wolbachia program is quite good and has succeeded in reducing the high number of dengue cases, previously it could have been up to 400-500 cases,” he said.
