PORTAL LEBAK – A small meteoroid hit the newly launched James Webb Space Telescope last December, in May 2022.
This left one of its gold-plated mirrors misaligned, though it didn’t change the orbiting observatory’s schedule for full operation soon, said NASA on Wednesday 8 June 2022.
The little space rock hit telescope worth 10 billion dollars at the end of May 2022.

As a result, there is a small but noticeable effect in the data telescopesay NASA in a statement.
The statement at once declared it was the fifth and greatest blow to telescope since its launch in December 2021.
“After initial assessment, the team found telescope still working at a rate that exceeds all mission requirements,” said NASA.
