Laga Wales vs Netherlands held at Cardiff City Stadium, Thursday (9/6/2022) early morning WIB. Louis van Gaal overhauled the team by fielding a different starting XI when compared to against Belgium.
Names like Memphis Depay, Steven Bergwijn, Frenkie de Jong, Denzel Dumfries sat on the bench. Jordan Teze and Jerdy Schouten got the chance to debut.
After a 0-0 draw in the first half, a new goal was created in the second half. The Dutch opened the scoring through Teun Koopmeiners in the 50th minute.
Koopmeiners received the ball from Schouten in front of the penalty box. Koopmeiners then fired low to find the net for Wales.
Wales just equalized in the 90+2 minute. Connor Roberts’ cross was completed by Rhys Norrington-Davies with a header.
When the match seemed to end in a draw, the Dutch scored again. Wout Weghorst restored the Dutch advantage while ensuring the team’s victory through his goal in the 90+5 minute. Weghorst found the net with a header after completing Tyrell Malacia’s cross.
Thanks to this victory, the Netherlands is comfortably at the top of Group A4 with six points from two matches. While Wales slumped at the bottom of the standings with zero points.
