The director worked on television for more than sixty years. Of Mexican nationality, he began his career on Televisa and ended up alternating productions in his country with jobs in Colombia. Thus, he directed iconic Televisa titles such as “Salud, dinero y amor”, “Amigas y rivales” and “La Venganza”; and other national ones such as “Tenth grade”, “The past does not forgive”, “I am going to teach you to love” and “Gangs, war and peace”.

He arrived in the country in 1983, hired for a production and stayed. Although his children are also Mexican, he raised his family in Colombia, making a great contribution to the history of national television in terms of dramatized films, which at the time of his arrival were not yet the most common formats, especially for the public. youth. “Décimo Grado” was a great success in that sense and is still in the minds of many Colombians for its music and characters.

His son Christian Tappan, one of the most outstanding figures in Latin American acting today, lamented his father’s departure on social media: “Goodbye, beautiful father, I will love you forever,” he wrote in a story on his Instagram account @ christiantappan.

Alfredo began his career in 1968 as a youth actor on Telesistema Mexicano, as Televisa was called then. He then continued to work in technical positions, he was given a scholarship to continue his training and thus he became the director of a format at the age of 19, in which he also worked in front of the cameras.

Later, he spent a season in the United States, on the NBC network, where he met his wife, María Cristina, and continued to work until 2020, more recently in children’s productions, until his health problems led him to retirement. .
