AI solution should enable precise planning
PlanerAI was founded in February 2021 by Würzburg university graduates Franz Seubert, Jan Meller and Fabian Taigel. The company’s goal is to use artificial intelligence to minimize food waste in retail. The AI solution is intended to provide customers with precise predictions of the quantities that will be sold in the next few days.
“Our goal is to halve food waste in five years,” says Managing Director Franz Seubert. The first discounters are already using PlanerAI’s AI. The company saved more than 75 tons of food from the garbage can in the first year. The AI from Würzburg is also used in the Erlenbach bakery in Förch – the bakery recently announced that the experiences have been positive. PlanerAI also uses the knowledge and network of the Campus Founders in Heilbronn.
A large amount of data flows into the software
According to Seubert, almost three million tons of food end up in the garbage every year in Germany due to poor planning. “We enable suppliers to plan precisely and only deliver the quantities to retailers that are actually sold on that day. Data such as the weather, regional events, promotions or holidays flow into our calculations,” he explains. With the money provided by the investors Earlybird Uni-X, Innowerft and Delivery Hero manager Christian von Hardenberg, PlanerAI’s AI is now to be widely marketed.
