Hospital crisis: Doctor François Braun wants “damage control” to spend the summer
His professionalism has not been called into question, but it is of course the object of his mission that Doctor François Braun was jostled in the Senate on June 7. The president of the Samu-Urgences de France (SUdF) union was instructed on May 31 by the executive to lead a one-month “flash mission” on access to urgent and unscheduled care. Wanted and announced by Emmanuel Macron, this group of professionals must in particular “identify the first operational solutions before the summer”. This Tuesday, a new day of mobilization of caregivers was also organized, in a context of closing services.
Yet there is no shortage of reports of healthcare worker shortages, deteriorating working conditions and overcrowded emergency services. The hospital and emergency room crisis was documented no later than two months ago in the report of the Senate inquiry committee. “The announcement of this mission surprised us, both by its subject […] but also by its one-month deadline, ”points out Senator Catherine Deroche (LR), President of the Social Affairs Committee.
