The Buenos Aires Government will adjust the electricity rate for the cities of the interior and La Plata by 20% starting in July, in line with the increases that have been registered in services at the national level.
As confirmed by official sources, the Province will follow the path of the Nation and will increase electricity service by 20%, which includes the users of the four distributors regulated by the province -EDEN, EDES, EDEA and EDELAP- and around 200 cooperatives that they face providing the service in several cities of the interior.
In this way and as DIB announced on Saturday, the governor, Axel Kicillof, will adjust the rate by a percentage similar to that in force for the Metropolitan Area since June, in order to total an increase of slightly more than 40% taking into account the rise in March. Despite this rise, the value is well below year-on-year inflation, which will be around 60%.
It should be remembered that days ago the National Electricity Regulatory Entity (ENRE) complied with the order of the Ministry of Energy and published the new rate schedules that have been in force since June, with a final increase of 16.5% on average for most of the residential users.
In the case of electricity, the ENRE only has jurisdiction over the electricity distributors of the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA), Edenor and Edesur, and the adjustment was 16.5%. In the rest of the country, the provincial entities are in charge of transferring to residential users the increases decided by the Secretary of Energy. (DIB)
