The Bastidian Sports Union celebrates its centenary in a few days. The historic football club of the town wants to bring everyone together for this great celebration.
Very moving are the memories of past sorrows and diverse fortunes. The playground of Labastide-Saint-Pierre can boast of having seen the birth of the football club, a hundred years ago, in this countryside which already marked out the south of Montauban. An association that was to adopt the colors red and yellow, which the most faithful would like to consider as blood and gold. A centenarian who has seen the greatest joys, from the big matches of the departmental elite to the emergence of the football school which has become an institution in the village. And then the presidents succeeded each other, in order to perpetuate a club sometimes in success, and sometimes in difficulty. The Bastidian Sports Union was created on April 3, 1922 by Pierre Baleye. The club is one of the oldest in Tarn-et-Garonne. Its vocation, already at the time, was to encourage young people to play sports, but also to shooting and military training. Very quickly, the Labastide-Saint-Pierre club became a sports center for the entire sector and the surrounding municipalities. Far in the memory, football was played on Mathéo Massa’s cow pasture, until Candlemas. On the initiative of the players and the managers, a piece of land was subsequently purchased and ceded to the municipality on November 15, 1941 in return for a subsidy of five hundred francs.
A big party
It was then that the club received the various approvals in order to institute the practice in terms. Then the outings, the lottos, Bastidian football became a big family. An adventure that took shape in black and white, like the photo of the first team which won the Tarn-et-Garonne Cup, then in color with the advent of more modern technology. Because a centenary is an event that the Bastidian leaders want to celebrate as it should be: “We aim to bring everyone together, the elders and the children of today, to have a superb party all together” indicates the President Damien Dudeck. Because if we don’t change a winning team, the reunion should be moving and full of meaning. A good team is made up of people who help each other and who like to meet in such circumstances: “We have a lot of registrations, but there are still a few days left to reserve places, we will welcome everyone with great pleasure. “. The anniversary will take place on Saturday, June 25 at the municipal stadium. The real festivities are those where we dance for the present as for the absent, because that evening the life of the club will certainly be the most beautiful of celebrations.
