President Putin on Monday signed a decree, which will provide an amount of 5 million rubles to the families of members of the National Guard, who die in Ukraine and Syria. It reports the news agency Tass, reproduced by Reuters.
The amount corresponds to almost 800,000 Norwegian kroner.

Reuters interprets Putin’s statement as an official confirmation that members of the National Guard are among those killed in Russia’s “military special operation” in Ukraine.
The Russian National Guard was formed in 2016, and is directly subordinate to President Putin. The group’s tasks are to fight terrorism and organized crime, and have been used domestically to crack down on peaceful demonstrations against the Putin regime, writes Reuters.
