PHOENIX – As more and more people use home delivery options during the day, mail carriers are even more likely to be bitten by a dog.
Therefore, the Postal Service is asking pet owners to keep their pets on a leash.
In 2021, more than 5,400 postal employees were attacked by dogs in the United States. In the valley, 28 were attacked.
That number was high enough to put Phoenix 14th in the Postal Service’s ranking of the top 25 cities for dog attacks.
Because of this issue, the Postal Service is providing information on the do’s and don’ts of responsible dog ownership as part of its annual National Dog Bite Awareness Week public service campaign.
