1. Prince Louis’ crazy jaws
Although it was a party organized for the British Queen Elizabeth II, it was one of the youngest royals to receive all the attention. Little Prince Louis (4), together with his brother, sister and parents, stood alongside the Queen on Thursday during the military parade and the overflight of the Royal Air Force. And the little prince couldn’t help but pull some funny faces. The little prince was not present at all the festivities on Friday and Saturday, but he was again in the front row during the parade on Sunday. All eyes and cameras were on him again.

2. The Queen’s Absence
The British Queen is already 96 years old and that means that she is no longer able to walk. She spent a long time on the balcony on Thursday watching the military parade, but in the evening Buckingham Palace announced that she would not attend the special church service at St. Paul’s Cathedral on Friday. The queen had experienced “some discomfort” and needed to rest. She was also not present at the Epsom Derby horse races on Saturday. She watched it live on TV from the couch.
To the delight of the British, the Queen did make a act of presence Sunday when she appeared on the balcony for three minutes after the parade. God save the queen was sung, she waved for a moment, then went back inside. She said in a statement afterwards that she was “honored and deeply moved” that so many people took to the streets to celebrate my platinum anniversary.”

3. Harry and Meghan’s Absence
Not only the Queen was the big absent during the anniversary, Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle were also barely visible during the festivities. They were occasionally spotted briefly, but were not officially invited to many events. For example, they were not allowed to appear on the balcony, because only those who fulfill an official function for the palace were allowed to be present. And they didn’t sign up at the ‘Party at the Palace’ event Saturday night either. On that day their daughter Lilibet turned one year old and they wanted to celebrate that privately.

4. Prince Charles Thanks “Mummy”
“Your Majesty, Mama (“Mummy”, red.)† You have been with us in our difficult times. On behalf of all of us, I want to pay tribute to your lifelong selfless service,” said 73-year-old Crown Prince Charles during his speech at the ‘Party at the Palace’ event on Saturday night. “The magnitude of tonight’s festivities and the deluge of warmth and affection over this anniversary weekend is our way of thanking you – for your family, the country, the Commonwealth, and indeed the entire world,” said Charles. “We remember all you have done to make the Commonwealth a major force for good. You are still making history,” Charles continued. “Your Majesty, you are by our side in difficult times. And you bring us together to celebrate moments of pride, happiness and joy. You promised to serve all your life and you will continue to do so. That’s why we’re here. That’s why we’re celebrating tonight,” said Charles. “That, Your Majesty, is why we say thank you.”

5. She can still act
Although she was unable to attend many of the festivities in person, the Queen once again won the hearts of many Britons. And that mainly because of a sketch with the beloved Paddington bear which was shown on the BBC at the start of the ‘Party at the Palace’.
The video shows the beloved bear having tea with the queen. And things don’t seem to be going well with Paddington’s table manners. He drinks the tea straight from the pitcher, which he then almost drops on the floor. The Queen doesn’t seem to mind all that much and even decides to show Paddington bear what she’s been carrying in her iconic handbag all these years.

6. The celebs were also there
Whether it was Victoria and David Beckham chatting a TV show around the anniversary or pop star Ed Sheeran paying tribute to the Queen and her late husband Prince Philip. The British celebrities pulled out all the stops and were in attendance to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee. 7. Brits and the rest of the world joined in
The British were given an extended weekend especially for the anniversary. And so they flocked to London to attend the festivities. Often fully dressed in the Union Jack. But also in the rest of the country, and by extension the entire Commonwealth, everything was prepared to celebrate the 70 years on the throne.
