Russian General Reportedly Killed in Eastern Ukraine

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

A military general Russia reported killed in the area Ukraine eastern part.

This was informed by a journalist from the Russian state news agency, as quoted from ReutersMonday (6/6) morning WIB.

Russian state television reporter Alexander Sladkov, via the Telegram messaging app, announced that a general had been killed in eastern Ukraine. The general was Major General Roman Kutuzov, but Sladkov did not specify exactly where and when the top military general was killed.

Until this news was written, there has been no related statement from the Russian Ministry of Defense regarding the news.

For information, currently Russian troops are intensifying attacks to take over Sievierodonetsk. It is a key city in the Donbas region of eastern Ukraine.

If general Kutuzov’s death is confirmed, it would be a major blow to the Russian military in its ambitions in Ukraine.

For information, Russia has classified the deaths of military officers as a state secret, even in peacetime. So far, Russia has not updated its official casualty figures in Ukraine since March 25. Earlier, it said 1,351 Russian soldiers had been killed since the start of the military campaign on February 24.

Russia says it is carrying out a “special military operation” designed to demilitarize Ukraine and remove nationalists who threaten its Russian-speaking population. Ukraine and Western countries reject Russia’s claims as a pretext for attack.

Britain’s defense ministry said on Monday that Russia appeared to have suffered significant losses among middle and junior officers in Ukraine.
