Flax market 2022: Germany’s largest craft market has started

After two years of abstinence, the 45th flax market in Krefeld-Linn was ceremoniously opened on Pentecost Saturday with the procession of the elector and his entourage. For three days, around 300 craftsmen present their skills.

After the greeting Alexander Raitz von Frentz (Arbeitsgemeinschaft Flachsmarkt eV) on Pentecost Saturday the flax market 2022 around Burg Linn with the parade of the elector, groups of knights, falconers, musicians and hunting horn blowers – by the patron district administrator Rolf Lindemann opened.

From June 4th to 6th, 2022, craftsmen from all over Germany and the surrounding countries will be presenting and demonstrating their techniques live around the historic Linn Castle. The flax market not only offers high-quality demonstrations and presentations of various handicrafts, but also an extremely attractive supporting program for the whole family with knights and musicians.

Children can actively participate
Among the craftsmen one also finds representatives of almost extinct professions at work – such as butter maker, armor smith, flax spinner, clay builder, rope maker, wig maker, top hat maker, doll doctor to name a few. Some of the young visitors are involved in the work and have the opportunity to be active themselves.
