Krødsherad, Police | – I have worked for 34 years in this agency, but have never encountered this before

KRØDSHERAD: On Sunday afternoon, the police coordinated a rescue operation at Fyranvatnet in Krødsherad, where a man was stuck in a bog on the spot.

On Twitter, the police wrote that the rescue helicopter was on its way together with other emergency services.

The operations manager in the Southeast police district, Øystein Eikedalen, tells Drammens Tidende that a man in his 70s has made a zipline on the spot.

Then the line has smoked, and he has fallen from a great height and down into a swamp. He’s stuck. We are not so happy with that, says Eikedalen.

– Stable

Furthermore, the operations manager says that a rescue helicopter has been sent out from Rygge.

– It takes some time to get there. I do not know how long the fire brigade and ambulance spend there, but we have another half hour drive.

At 13.16, the police write on Twitter that the rescue helicopter interrupts:

– First emergency services on the spot. Efforts are being made to get the man out of the area. The rescue helicopter interrupts. The man is still conscious and it all seems to be resolved, the police write.

Anders Hæg, duty manager at the 110 exchange, tells the newspaper that they have sent people out of the station in Prestfoss.

– We are on our way and have not arrived yet, he says just before a quarter past one, Sunday afternoon.

– There is no danger of the man sinking, he is stable, says the foreman.

Saved up

At 13.42, the police inform that they have got the man out of the bog.

– He is now on his way to Drammen hospital by ambulance. Back pain, police write.

Operations manager Øystein Eikedalen says that it was the fire brigade and ambulance personnel who got the man out of the bog together, and had him laid on an air mattress.

– He was clear and oriented, but had back pain. That’s all I know. We have concluded that there will be no case or follow-up from the police, says Eikedalen.

Eikedalen is aware that the working days in the police are different. However, this was something new for the experienced policeman.

– I have worked for 34 years in this agency, but I have never encountered this before. It’s nice to experience new things, then. Because this was a bit new, says Eikedalen.

The case is being updated.
