The partially automated Tesla in the USA is stopping for no reason. The office wants an explanation from the company

The office also wants the carmaker to inform it of all reports from users and from the field that it has received about false braking, or about reported accidents, injuries, deaths and claims for damages.

He also wants information on whether the company’s automated control and automatic emergency braking systems were active at the time of any incident.

This is the carmaker’s fourth formal investigation in three years. The NHTSA has also overseen 23 Tesla convening events since January 2021.

NHTSA also conducts broader accident investigations using a partially automated management system. This applies to all cars.

Since 2016, the Office has sent teams to 34 accidents in which either the system was in operation or suspected of being in operation. Of these 34 cases, 28 concerned Tesla cars. Fifteen people died in these accidents and at least another 15 were injured, the AP said.
