Ronaldo as a Swiss fright

With a furious 5:2 against Belgium, Switzerland had qualified for the first edition of the Nations League for the finals, semi-final opponents there was Portugal. But Cristiano Ronaldo shattered all dreams of the Confederates when he defeated Yann Sommer three times at Porto’s Estádio do Dragão.
Ricardo Rodríguez was able to equalize with a penalty after a Ronaldo free-kick, but there was no match against Ronaldo that night. While the now 37-year-old may not be in the form he was in the past, the Swiss will be keeping an eye out to ensure the events of 2019 don’t repeat themselves.
Germany still has a score to settle with England

The 2-0 defeat against England in the round of 16 of UEFA EURO 2020 should still be an unpleasant memory for most of the players in the DFB team – it’s clear that they now want to take revenge. But be careful: Munich is a good place for the Three Lions.
They last met here in 2001, when the Germans under coach Rudi Völler lost 5-1 to the English despite a lead. Michael Owen scored a hat-trick for coach Sven-Göran Eriksson’s team. Karl-Heinz Rummenigge after the game: “I’ve never seen such a bad defeat, that was our Waterloo.” The English have won three of the last four duels between these teams, but under Hansi Flick the DFB team has recently done a lot better than in previous years.
