It was the goal for the end of the season, but it will not be achieved. Even if the Chartrains end their championship on a positive note, next Wednesday, at home, against Saint-Raphaël, they will not do better than last season. Stuck at twenty points for long weeks, Toni Gerona’s players are no longer advancing. Dulled physically, and obviously worn out psychologically, they yielded, this Saturday evening, for the fifth time in a row.
Last stop before the terminus, this Saturday evening, for the C’Chartres MHB, in Dunkirk
This match in Dunkirk, against a northern team lacking in confidence and weakened by numerous injuries, seemed however largely in their ropes. Moreover, they had it in hand for almost a half, counting up to three goals in advance (6-9, 16 ‘). Unfortunately for them, the Chartrains did not know how to seize the opportunities and press on the head of a UDSK team yet feverish offensively, with ten balls lost during the first thirty minutes.
Chartres liquefied in the second half

Clumsy in front of goal, like Nicolaï Perdersen in a bad evening (1/8), the Euréliens spoiled a lot and should have led quite clearly at the break. Instead, they returned to the locker room at 15-15, then disappeared completely from circulation afterwards.
Theo Avelange-Demouge, the USDK right winger, made them see all the colors (14/14), and the match took a totally unexpected turn. The score suddenly went from 17-17 to 22-17, then to 28-20, without the CCMHB, completely haggard, failing to respond. Few goalkeeper saves (7/39), three missed penalties and a lot of waste from the shoot (51%): Chartres, out of breath, blanked out his second period in the wide widths, which had the effect of make Toni Gerona furious.
An air of deja vu for Chartres, beaten by Montpellier
With the means at hand, but above all with much more desire, the Dunkirks have, for their part, put an end to a long period of scarcity (5 defeats) and offered their coach, Patrick Cazal, a very good outing after more ten years at the head of the team. Everything was ready at the Stade de Flandres to celebrate the Reunionese coach as well as the starting players, and Chartres, who hoped to spoil the evening, only managed to make it a little more beautiful…
