Lithuanian basketball player Paulius Jankūns put an end to his professional career at the age of 38.
Today, the veteran Kaunas “Žalgiris” Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL) series for the third place in the fourth match with the team “Šiauliai-7bet” 89:76, triumphed in the series 4-0 and won bronze. The game became a farewell match for Yankoon, with an experienced basketball player scoring nine points and five rebounds.
The Lithuanian “Žalgiris” made his debut in 2003 and played in the team until 2009. This was followed by one season at the Khimki team in the Moscow region, while a basketball player born in Kaunas in 2010 returned to his hometown and played only in Žalgiris.
Jankūns is the 15-time Lithuanian champion and the nine-time Lithuanian Cup winner, who has been included in all possible symbolic national teams in Lithuania. The player has also entered his surname in the Euroleague record book – he is the best in terms of the number of games played (392) and rebounds (2010 or 5.13 on average per match).
