Arsenal Announce Lacazette’s Departure

London

Arsenal let go Alexandre Lacazette. The French striker is confirmed to leave after his contract expires at the end of this month.

The French striker joined Arsenal from Lyon in 2017. Over the past five years, Lacazette has made over 200 appearances, contributing 71 goals and 36 assists across all competitions.

Lacazette helped the Gunners win the Community Shield, FA Cup and reach the Europa League final. After leaving North London, the 31-year-old footballer is reported to be returning to Lyon.

“Laca has been a fantastic player for us,” said the Manager Arsenal Mikel Arteta on the club’s official website. “He has been a true leader on and off the pitch and has been a huge influence on our young players.”

“His commitment to us over the years has been excellent and we wish him and his family success and happiness.”

On his farewell Alexandre Lacazette expressed gratitude for the opportunity to play at Arsenal. Lacazette will always be a supporter of the London Cannon.

“I want to say thank you, thank you very much because there were so many expectations from me when I joined. The welcome was amazing. I immediately felt comfortable playing for the team and for the past five years it has been amazing with the fans in the stadium,” he said.

“Thank you also for the song. I never talked about it, but it really touched me. Thank you very much. I will continue to be in contact with my team-mates, with the coach, with the club.”

“I’ve supported Arsenal since I was young, so I will definitely continue to support them. I also knew I was going back to the stadium. As we say, ‘Once a Gunner, forever a Gunner’ concluded Lacazette.
