“Residents are hungry”
Supported by families of residents, employees ofOrpea Chartres, with this picket in front of the establishment this Friday, June 3, 2022, want to denounce their working conditions which affect the living conditions of the elderly. The strikers ensure:
There are budget restrictions on everything! The food quantities have been reduced with 90 grams of protein per day and per person, the residents are hungry. Or the hygienic protections that are not suitable so we have to change people more often.
A version in disagreement with the management of the establishment: “the comments reported are out of step with reality”.
Each resident has a personalized care plan followed by an attentive care team. It should be recalled that the inspections and audits carried out within the Orpea group highlighted that no organized system for rationing incontinence products had been identified.
These personnel confide that they are also mobilizing for those who cannot strike and who are working. “We hope to get things moving.”
What management told us
Contacted by Chartres News, the management of Orpea found this morning that nine employees registered in the schedule had not taken up their position. “We had anticipated a reorganization in view of this call to strike,” she told us.
Continuity of care and support for residents is ensured; similarly, meals, cooked on site, are served in the dining room at lunchtime as always. Residents and families have naturally been informed.
On the profit-sharing bonus, Orpea replies: “as of May 17, when management announced that there would be no profit-sharing bonus for 2021, and therefore even before the announcement of this strike , Orpea’s management had made 2 commitments to the members of the Social and Economic Committee and to all of the company’s employees”.
“Our priority is to find a peaceful situation”
According to management, an exceptional bonus to purchasing power would be paid to employees “as soon as the legislative text allowing it is published” and a negotiation must be opened this month for “with a view to the signing of an amendment to the existing profit-sharing agreement, aimed at introducing one or more extra-financial criteria to avoid in the future that only the annual financial results determine the amount of profit-sharing paid to employees”.
The management of Chartres Gardens concludes, “our priority is to find a peaceful situation and preserve a serene atmosphere within the residence for the well-being of all”.
The strike is renewed this Saturday June 4, 2022.
