Resident Evil Village and No Man’s Sky for PlayStation VR2

A new State of Play was launched on Friday night, and as Sony had promised, we received news about games for PlayStation VR2. Next to Horizon Call of the Mountain – which you can read about here – the Japanese company launched three games that are under development for its next variant of virtual reality.

Note that PlayStation VR2 has not yet been released. The games below therefore have no date either, but via the PlayStation blog it is announced that one of the games will come in 2023.

So then we apparently have a launch window to rely on.

The first of the games is Resident Evil Village, which allows you to experience the atrocities of Dimitrescu Castle and the surrounding area up close. Watch the trailer for the game on the right in the article.

Capcom promises to take advantage of all the innovations from PS VR2, including eye tracking and 3D sound, and at the same time allows for more freedom to tackle the game’s monsters – such as holding a gun in one hand and a knife in the other.

No Man’s Sky is also recreated in its entirety for PlayStation VR2. As game manager Sean Murray explains on the PlayStation blog, this is the Beyond version of the game, which came to Sony’s first VR headset back in 2019.

Admittedly, there will be some upgrades, adapted for the new glasses. Exactly what it is about, however, Hello Games is not quite ready to reveal, but more information will be shared in the coming months.

The next chapter in the action series The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners will arrive on PlayStation VR towards the end of 2022. A separate version for PlayStation VR2 is also underway, Skydance Interactive confirmed on Friday.

Retribution – which is the game’s subtitle – introduces a whole new story, with new environments to explore and new weapons and other tools to strangle zombies.
