If political experts see an indication of the strained relationship between Jokowi and Megawati, internally the PDIP is a slightly different story. Internal PDIP, especially in the ring closest to the General Chair, saw indications that there were parties that distanced Jokowi and Megawati.
“This is an indication, I’m not saying this fact. There is a strong indication that the relationship between Mr. Jokowi and his mother wants to be kept away. It has happened for a long time, this is a repetition, this is another replay,” said PDIP Bappilu Chairman Bambang Wuryanto to reporters at the complex parliament, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday (31/5/2022).
Bambang Pacul believes that Jokowi has great respect for Megawati. He is very sure that Jokowi will never collide with Megawati’s policies as the General Chair of the PDIP.
“Pak Jokowi himself once said to me, ‘I and my mother are the same as children and parents’,” said Bambang.
Giving indications of parties distancing Jokowi and Megawati, Bambang did not want to mention who the parties were referring to. He believes the speculations will be over once Jokowi meets Megawati. Moreover, Megawati once told him that Jokowi was born in the womb of the PDIP and was raised by Megawati.
“I’ll meet Pak Jokowi, I’ll meet you later,” said Bambang.
