Onana is the captain of the Belgian U21. How does it feel to be there with the big boys for the first time? “I have a very warm feeling here, I have been well received and I am happy to be there.”
“I feel at ease, I am of course used to being at Lille. I already knew some of the boys, of course. They are nice guys and there is a lot of communication. The experienced players try to teach the young people a lot. It’s nice to learn from the best, because for me, too, these are the greatest players in Europe.”
The difference with the promises is very large, according to Onana. “Still, here I am really among players who have already proven a lot at the highest level. Anyway, I will remain the same Onana as with the promises.”
“Playing minutes? I will give everything in every training session and I don’t want to regret it afterwards. I want to be able to show why I am here. I will do everything I can to play in one of the next matches.”

Onana is predicted a great future, he himself remains modest for the time being. “I focus on my job here and don’t think about a transfer. I forced my selection at Lille and really like to play there. I’m not thinking about the Premier League yet.”
