Dresden: Saxony’s Prime Minister Kretschmer and his Baden-Württemberg counterpart Kretschmann continue to insist on compulsory insurance for natural hazards in Germany. Kretschmer told the German Press Agency that the devastating flood disasters and other natural forces such as landslides or tornadoes had shown that any region in Germany could be hit suddenly. It is clear that personal provision must continue to be of great importance in any case. Kretschmann emphasized in SWR that Baden-Württemberg has already had good experiences with compulsory insurance. According to the Green politician, the number of damaging events will increase as a result of climate change.
