Deputy Dr. Álvaro Aguilar Peralta stated yesterday that “due to the absenteeism of parents from going to polio vaccination centers, coercive measures are imposed. It is the only way for these health campaigns to be efficient. We doctors are already coming to that conclusion.”

For his part, Deputy Miguel Asís Esna presented a project aimed at requiring children to be vaccinated against the main childhood epidemics when they enter kindergarten. This project is pending opinion, and its drafting has been entrusted in the social affairs commission, to deputy Reinaldo Maxwell Kennedy.

Deputy Aguilar Peralta declared that “without a doubt, he will enjoy the support of all legislators once he is known in plenary. The doctors who are popular representatives in the Chamber are convinced of its goodness, and it can be a practical solution to the problem of the prevailing negligence in the matter of vaccination”.
