Oslo – Thousands get building ban

The Planning and Building Agency in Oslo has adopted a temporary ban on measures in the areas covered by the single-family house plan in the city, the agency announces in a press release on Wednesday.

The ban was announced on April 6, but only adopted today. This means that all applications submitted after 6 April are covered by the ban.

The ban is part of the so-called single-family house plan in Oslo, and the purpose is to shield the extensive areas from further densification and protect green areas.

The single-family home plan includes around 28,000 properties spread throughout the city.

The leader of the industry association Eiendom Norge, Tone Tellevik Dahl, is aware that she believes the measure is too aggressive.

– This has consequences for far more than those who had plans to send an application. The construction industry employs an enormous number of people in this country, she says.

Although the decision is temporary, she believes it will in reality take a long time before a clarification comes.

– I doubt that it goes faster than a year, she says.

She says that the industry is now planning to appeal the decision.

– The small house plan will not solve the housing challenge, but it is still a fact that there are many homes that are now not being built in Oslo. That’s not what we need now. Oslo needs more housing, and fast, she says.
