Stranger Things season four breaks Netflix record in first weekend | NOW

The fourth season of Stranger Things has been massively watched on Netflix since its Friday premiere. According to trade magazine Variety subscribers to the streaming service watched 287 million hours of the new series of episodes on its first weekend. That’s a record.

The previous record for an English-language series was held by Bridgerton† The second season of it was watched a total of 193 hours in the first weekend. The South Korean Series Squid Game and the spanish series The Money Heist are the most watched non-English language series.

The first seven episodes of the fourth season of Stranger Things have been online since Friday. The last two will follow on July 1.

Stranger Things Set in the 1980s, it is about a group of teenagers who battle supernatural beings. The series is inspired by the work of Steven Spielberg and Stephen King, among others.
