Debris clearer stole money from residents after explosion in Bilthoven flat

The man from IJsselstein was initially caught by a witness. He had seen him take things out of the rubble and put them in his pocket. When officers kept an eye on him, they noticed that the man glanced in their direction several times from a distance, a police spokeswoman said. “After a while they approached him and the money was found.”

The 26-year-old was subsequently arrested. A case has been registered against him. According to RTV Utrecht looks at the Public Prosecution Service whether the man may be further prosecuted, but the police spokeswoman cannot confirm that.
