The Sport Austria Finals were held for the first time last year, at that time under strict conditions due to CoV. This year the aim is to attract sports enthusiasts from all over Styria to Graz and present a wide variety of sports in one place.

A total of 28 sports associations are at the start, according to Sport Austria President Hans Niessl: “These Sport Austria Finals were a great success last year with 4,500 athletes, now there are 6,000. At the press conference on Tuesday, Sports Minister Werner Kogler (Greens) emphasized the advertising value for the often less well-known sports: “The idea is great that if you concentrate on this concept, you will get much more attention with this concept and so all the individual sports of it benefit.”
Example cheerleading
One of the sports that choose their state champions in Graz is cheerleading – and Austria recently surprised with the world championship title. An upswing is noticeable, said cheerleader Magdalena Bramböck: “On the one hand, we recognize that by the fact that we have hundreds of registrations for the national team 2023. But we also notice the interest in general, including in the audience, to be there live at a cheerleading championship.” Cheerleading will be held at the Eishalle Liebenau – one of 23 venues at the Sport Austria Finals from June 16th to 19th in Graz.
