Stuntman Olivier Bisback from ‘Personal Trainers’: “I kept Jean-Claude Van Damme on the right path” | showbiz

Olivier Bisback (48) has been involved in the film world for almost thirty years, but his enthusiasm has no expiration date. “When I was twelve I already dreamed of becoming an actor and stuntman”, he starts enthusiastically. “I was obsessed with guys like Bruce Lee, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Chuck Norris and Sylvester Stallone. They combined rock hard action with acting, and I wanted that too. Whereupon I started studying their movies like crazy. ‘The Way of the Dragon’ by Bruce Lee, you know that print? That’s where it started for me. I’ve seen that movie so many times that I knew the dialogues by heart. I also wanted to be able to do all those moves. First I practiced in the garden, with a notebook next to me. Eventually I started taking taekwondo, and I was pretty good at it (Bisback became Belgian champion three times, ed.).”
