Take a look at the most interesting “remakes” in Unreal Engine 5 »Vortex

In addition to large official prototypes and techdems from established teams and studios that have begun using the new Unreal Engine 5, almost every day the Internet is enchanted by a small demonstration of the capabilities of the new technology from Epic. We’ve been to Vortex for you some time ago showed a selection of interesting projects, which are mostly individuals, whether complete enthusiasts or professionals, but in their spare time. We looked at what a potential new Batman, Superman or a remake of the Portal might look like in UE5. We will now follow up on this choice, because it is still a very attractive topic.

Although in some time the presented graphics will become the norm, at the moment such creations can still amaze us, and so we think they deserve attention as a kind of look into the possible future. However, it should be noted that even in the case of open world game concepts, this is only a small fragment of the potential world, in which there is a lack of real gameplay and, in fact, everything else that makes the game a game. It is also necessary to keep this in mind because similar demo versions are really supposed to amaze us in terms of graphics in the first place, and everything else goes aside and their authors do not have to deal with it, nor does it burden the project with performance.

In conclusion, I would like to emphasize that this is not so much an article in the true sense of the word as a large gallery of videos of similar projects that have fascinated me in recent weeks and we have not had the opportunity to address them individually in the Vortex. So make yourself comfortable, because we have enough on the program.

Iron Man

When it came to various superheroes last time, we can go straight to them. Iron Man again uses the existing world of the Epic Matrix and was created by Aaron Wayne Morse. The demo can be downloaded, but it focuses exclusively on the movement and flight of the protagonist, not on fighting in the true sense of the word.

Spider-Man

Another hero from Marvel, whom the fans took to the parade, is a spider man aka Peter Parker. He uses the city from the Matrix again and youtuber with the nickname dwr wants to indicate what another game with Spider-Man might look like. To do this, he uses the character model that Lewis Fiford has been working on since 2020. This demo can also be downloaded and is not just for watching.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City

A sample from the “remake” of Vice City, created by TeaserPlay, rightly aroused a great response. His intention was supposed to show how well UE5 is suitable for sandbox games. He also wanted to demonstrate what the improved version from Rockstar should look like. For example, he used one of the new Lumen technologies, which takes care of lighting and reflections.

Gran Theft Auto: San Andreas

The same author, as in the previous case, also made a proposal for what San Andreas might look like on UE5.

The Last of Us, Red Dead Redemption, Mafia IV, Zaklínač 4

And to the third TeaserPlay. It doesn’t even make sense to describe each project individually, we’d rather talk about the videos themselves. On his channel you will find a huge number of other clips from various concepts and prototypes inspired by famous brands. Of course, they often rely on other assets, and of course you will find details for each one separately.

Halo

The Halo show at UE5 called The Zeta Halo Experience also garnered fans’ attention. It is possible to download it and explore the environment in person. The main architect of the project is Infinite Forges, but he could count on the help of several colleagues. Infinite Forges otherwise works as a level designer at Gearbox. You will also find other interesting creations on his channel.

Starfield

Of course, the eagerly awaited Starfield doesn’t drive Unreal Engine 5. But what could it look like? He tried to imagine this and show it in practice at Pasquale Scionti, who otherwise works in the Ninja Theory studio. His private projects have received considerable attention before. We at Vortex have also written about his Silent Hill in UE5 in the past.

Cyberpunk 2077, Dark Souls, Half-Life, Alien, Starfield, Fallout, Star Wars Jedi, Mass Effect, Red Dead Redemption, Dragon Age

Enfant Terrible has once again put together a demonstration of what Cyberpunk on Unreal Engine 5 might look like using various foreign existing assets. On its channel you will find similar creations to Dark Souls, Half-Life, Alien, Starfield, Fallout, Star Wars Jedi, Mass Effect, Red Dead Redemption or Dragon Age.

Dragon Age

Leo Torres showed what such a hypothetical Dragon Age might look like.

Need for Speed III: Hot Pursuit

However, not all projects at UE5 necessarily strive for the most realistic graphics possible. David Kerekes used the original models and textures Need for Speed III: Hot Pursuit from 1998 and stretched them with UE5 in an effort to find out how such a retro piece could benefit from new technologies while maintaining the original aesthetics. It can be seen on lighting, shadows or reflections.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Finally, we kept Skyrim. You can see the famous introductory village in UE5, created by Christian Gomm from Myrkur Games. He had previously experimented with other parts of Skyri and even Oblivion in the Unreal Engine, as you can see on his channel.
