Many drivers still can’t afford cars made relatively recently, and they don’t want new ones for nothing. And it’s not just about money. We found other reasons.

The cries of the older generation over how “in their time” everything was better than almost everyone we have experienced today. Who my grandfather sometimes didn’t lament. Usually there is nothing more than a bit of nostalgia and longing for the old days. Bakery next to the corner, milk in a jug and chocolate without palm fat. And no Lidl. We would also be tempted for a while. But still without phone, internet and computer? Probably not anymore. And what about cars? Then we will quite surprise you.
Latest cars vs. “Nineties”?
When we put all the pros and cons together, we got a pretty interesting balance. And it’s not very flattering to the latest models with five assistance systems, by controlling everything via one touch screen and an unnatural motor, strangled by the latest EU standard. Logical. These are all the consequences of artificial constraints imposed by officials, which are put together by people who don’t really love cars. And whose results are not intended to make anyone’s life easier.

We have come so far when neither manufacturers nor customers decide how our cars will drive, but the army of Brussels technocrats. A special time. All those restrictions reach us motorists as the “last link in the chain” through the law, regulations and decrees. We are quite sorry for the manufacturers, who are dictated by extremely technical matters by people who do not know much about them. It must be daunting to fight something that you believe is basically useless.
7 reasons why “it was already good”:
- Controls in buttons and controls vs. in the infotainment menu and touch screen control
- Natural running engines, without throttling according to EU standards
- Less useless electronics / less options for how something can go wrong
- Lights with replaceable H7 bulbs for 150 CZK / pc as an option, not mandatory LED lights 20,000 CZK for the whole
- Powerful turbodiesels with low consumption vs. downsizing engines designed to achieve low emissions during the approval process
- Promoting electromobility primarily due to the reduction of emission values in the carmaker’s portfolio, which results in cars that basically no one needs and whose infrastructure is not ready for operation
- Liquidation of segments that have made many fields of business easier for years (end of Stellantis’ practical turbodiesel deliveries and enforcement of their electrical variants)

What to add at the end? We do not want to end in any pessimistic or negative way, certainly not. The truth remains, however, that today’s cars are beginning to deviate somewhat from their original purpose and offers (or imposes, point of view question) things to their drivers that few would voluntarily order. This is quite different from cars only 10-15 years old, which even today no one would call “obsolete” – but which give their owners more joy than today. At the same time, they do not burden them with things that their owners did not want.
