Christian Ahlmann from Marl won the Hamburg Grand Prix on Saturday with Dominator as part of the Global Champions Tour.
Ahlmann prevailed in the jump-off in the Hamburg-Klein Flottbek Derby Park. There was 99,000 euros in prize money for the winner, who shot clean in the jump-off and rode the fastest time of 50.51 seconds. Second place was shared by European Champion André Thieme on Chakaria and the Irishman Michael Pender on Calais (both 0/51.33). In the normal course, eight couples remained clear.
Five German couples in the jump-off
Fourth was Mario Stevens from Molbergen on Starissa. A total of five German riders had reached the jump-off. Marcus Ehning from Borken on Stargold and Gerrit Nieberg from Sendenhorst on Blues d’Aveline finished fifth and sixth after a knockdown in the decisive round.
Hamburg was the sixth of 15 stations in the million series. After the successes of Ludger Beerbaum in Doha and Mexico City and Katrin Eckermann, Ahlmann ensured the fourth German victory this year.
