HPV vaccination campaign, the real chance of cancer prevention …

The free vaccination campaign for 4th grade girls is a real chance to prevent cervical cancer, a disease whose mortality ranks us first in Europe.

Unfortunately, the politicization and misinformation about the benefits of this campaign, which was intended to be honest and beneficial to health, led to the rejection of vaccination by many, far too many parents, unknowingly.

With this dangerous precedent, there is a risk of rejection for other vaccinations, a situation that creates all the preconditions for the appearance of long-forgotten diseases, such as polio, also caused by a virus.

For the prevention of cervical cancer there are the following possibilities: primary prophylaxis of HPV infection by vaccination, correct information on the risk of disease, continuing sex education and regular medical check-ups for early detection of precancerous lesions (Pap smear and HPV test). The HPV vaccine protects the body against HPV infection by stimulating the production of antibodies.

There are currently 2 types of vaccine, both providing protection against oncogenic strains of HPV virus, and one of them also provides protection against 2 strains responsible for the appearance of papillomas.

Vaccines have been used in our country for several years, but for a limited number of girls, due to the high price and low information. It should be noted that no notable post-vaccine incidents were reported.

CAREFUL!

Vaccines have saved most lives in human history, being the treatment with the fewest side effects, compared to a good part of the drugs commonly used by most of the population.

Of the more than 30 million doses of HPV vaccine administered worldwide, no major adverse reactions were reported, with rumors circulating in this regard being mere speculation. Compared to the old vaccines which, although made with modest technologies, still saved millions of lives, today the technology in this field has evolved significantly, so that the risks generated by the use of new vaccines are now minor.

REMEMBER!

These vaccines are widely used in the United States and many European countries. The few suspected deaths from HPV vaccination in the United States have been thoroughly investigated by forensic doctors, concluding that it was not the vaccination that caused the deaths, but certain pre-existing conditions.

Since 2006, the competent US bodies have decided to approve and recommend the use of HPV vaccines.

The same situation exists in Europe, where many countries have started vaccination against HPV through national programs, such as the program launched in Romania.
