The biggest stars from the junior edition of the Melodi Grand Prix were absent from NRK’s cavalcade-packed anniversary broadcast, where viewers could get the impression that the duo was abroad.

20 years after the first edition of MGPjr, NRK had put itself in the saddle to decorate Saturday’s edition with the previous winners, many of whom have also distinguished themselves in retrospect – such as Nicolay Ramm, Agnete Saba, Malin Reitan and Sval.
However, the biggest pop stars MGPjr has generated were not present in Telenor Arena: Marcus & Martinus, who won in 2012 with «Two drops of water».
The following decade, the twins from Trofors have been one of Norway’s biggest pop successes, with big hits, “Spellemann of the Year” trophy and a solid army of fans also outside their home country.
– Currently in Stockholm
– Congratulations so much on the twentieth anniversary, said the duo in a video recording sent towards the end of the MGPjr final, just before the cavalcade of previous winners started – with Marcus & Martinus appearing on video (see below).
– We are currently in Stockholm and working with new music, but we hope you enjoy yourself a lot tonight!
However, this was not quite sant. On VGTV and TV2 presenter Mads Hansens Instagram-story on Saturday night you could see Marcus & Martinus out in Oslo, at Frogner with Hansen.
From Hansen’s story, it appears that the twins, who turned 20 in February, were in a place more serving where the Champions League final was shown. It ran in parallel with the MGPjr broadcast.
According to the duo’s manager Karianne Thorsrud Fjeldheim, they were scheduled to travel to Stockholm for work on Saturday afternoon.
– But due to illness in the team in Sweden, the job of pre-production for the concerts this summer was changed at short notice, she writes in an e-mail.
– They have therefore not been able to prepare for a performance at NRK tonight.
Not worried
NRK’s communications adviser Tonje Bergmo writes in an e-mail that they hope the brothers had fun.
– What Marcus and Martinus choose to spend Saturday nights on, we do not worry significantly about, Bergmo reports.
– We got them on tape and we are very happy with the result. Both of the medley and the evening in its entirety.
